Some links which we think can be useful in Africa
Guides Lonely planet books on Ethiopia and Soutern Africa were used during our trip. The book "Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti" is completely out to date but still can give you some infos. "Southern Africa" is quite accurate but anyway check the web site for the latest infos. If you travel in Ethiopia, check the Lonely planet's web site before because there is few possibilities to get an internet access on the spot! (www.lonelyplanet.com)
Rough Guide
We use the Rough Guide "Kenya" many many times on the spot. The 2002 edition is very accurate.

Accommodation "Coast to Coast" is "the book" to have in Namibia and South Africa. It gives you a lot of good infos on backpackers. It's funny to read and accurate. You can find it in each backpackers for free. (www.coastingafrica.com; email : info@coastingafrica.com)
